New blog post about Prof Trish Greenhalgh & colleagues'
latest opus on masks and airborne disease:
open.substack.com/pub/independ...
TLDR masks work, high quality ones (e.g. FFP2/FFP3) work better, wearing them properly is *needed* and we need to move on from simple "do they work" Qs.

I strongly recommend THIS to every New Zealander in my hearting, because we've got the disinformation merchants inside the House. Literally.
And if we don't correct course hard and soon, when - not if - the next pandemic hits us "vibes" and shitposting will get people needlessly killed.

A welcome antidote to the Rwanda bill bullshit that is going on now.
Asylum seekers & refugees have been through far more trauma than most of us, to make it to England. They deserve better than to be thrown onto the political dumpster fire of a cynical culture war. 3/3

He is the nicest guy from Eritrea who's come through so much. RefugeesAtHome made it happen, and after we hosted him, the YMCA gave him stable accommodation for 18 months while he found his feet. The ceremony was moving, ending with "Our flag is now your flag". 2/3

Getting my yearly ulcer at the willingness of so many UK political pundits to just let the political parties set their own homework in terms of what a 'good night' would be in the local elections. No, the metro-mayoralties are not the 'most significant' elections of the night.

The day after the awful Rwanda bill passed, I get the perfect antidote. The 1st refugee we ever hosted 7 yrs ago just texted to invite me to his citizenship ceremony. At least he is here, and safe, having found community & steady work.
Thanks to RefugeesAtHome for all they do
