Some folks w/ interesting and gorgeous ideas for community groups are starting to apply! Is there a way that you yearn to gather with others? A focus you want to share with other people but don't know how to get started or worry that its too much work? I have ideas about that:

It is very, very difficult to convince people it matters when everyone from the president to their family doctor tells them it doesn't. The stats on excess death and mass disability say different tho.

There are also multiple labs working on pan-sars vaccine that would help us get away from chasing variants. The scientists are working hard, but as you say the funding/distribution/public ed portion of the program is MIA.

OTOH I took a very long (ten weeks) workshop that involved some high wire emotional risk and reflection and found that incredibly provocative and useful. It's not the emotional confrontation that bothers me, it's the soft, facile form of it.

I feel intensely bored and irritated. I am simply not interested. I want practical skills, I can take care of the emotional exploration on my own. It's what I do all damn day as a writer!

Maybe it's because everything is so high stakes right now? I feel very impatient with this kind of slow messing around. I feel bored and irritated with it. I am aware that boredom is a form of resistance--remember, I used to facilitate this stuff! And yet.

I'm interested in why and when this happened to me, but for now I only know that if I have to fill out one more body chart or give a color to my feeling, or draw my demon or whatever I will throw up. It used to be my whole milieu and I just can't do it anymore!

I used to organize and facilitate these kinds of workshops so no shade to anyone who is out there enjoying them or even relying on them but somewhere along the line I completely lost my tolerance for soft-therapy art and writing workshops. (Genuine emotional risk after slow building of trust is OK.)
