New from 404 Media: a U.S. government agency tasked with supporting the nation's nuclear capability bought access to internet backbone data. Sometimes agencies say it takes too long to get the data from NSA, so they just buy it from a private firm instead www.404media.co/u-s-nuke-age...

BREAKING NEWS: Voters turned out in numbers not seen in decades to stop the far-right National Rally from taking power in the French National Assembly. Polls predicted a first-place finish for National Rally, which instead came in third in initial results as polling stations closed.

Did you know quinine was put in tonic water to deliver low doses of the antimalarial medication? British officers in India in the 19th century started mixing quinine with sugar and soda water to mask the bitter taste, creating the precursor to modern tonic water Cin cin, enjoy ya Gin and medicine

There's the consideration of protocol vs platform but if you have infrastructure then I'm pretty sure you're gonna ultimately be deemed a platform and the protocol argument would be irrelevant.

Nice write-up What's missing for me is in-depth discussion about legal liability in relation to these types of protocols People seem to believe that they can transmit anything they choose with zero liability, which is interesting Section 230 isn't foolproof and EU / other / local laws differ

Absolutely agree on martial arts. I have been learning Kung Fu for years and it is such a great art-form. We also teach our children Chess, which has proved to be a fantastic tool for developing critical analysis and strategic thinking.

Learning to code teaches a methodology to problem solving and breaking large things down into small well defined chunks that’s useful in almost everything you do. It’s not for everyone, but it would benefit anyone.

Also, you don't need to learn to code for cyber but it can help a lot and I'd argue that "everyone" can benefit from learning at least one programming language.

One of the most interesting conversations I had about programming was with a criminal lawyer. It was a very long time ago and he was convinced that even as a criminal lawyer he should learn to code. A few years after he'd learned to code, quit law, and was earning more in cybersecurity.

If information that makes you angry comes at the same time from the same person as information that makes you sad, from someone going through something potentially traumatic, their state of mind should also be considered because the thing that made you mad could have just been caused by the trauma.

Imagine being presented with two "new" pieces of information simultaneously The first might make you really sad The second might make you really angry Both come from someone going through new cancer diagnostics Would most people focus on themselves and get mad or suppress anger and show empathy?

Let's be clear If a company a "security researcher" has identified as being hacked then denies it that does not give "security researcher" the right to break the law just because they're pissed off At that point you're no longer a "security researcher", you're a criminal and it's black and white
