I remember when the one opened at Gurnee Mills in the 90s, they were one of those places that encouraged you to eat peanuts and dump the shells on the floor and they had line dancing

A friend of mine worked there for a while in the mid 2000s and they treated their staff terribly.

this was my favorite and I still miss it. We had a favorite server at ours; reading some of the other replies it's now unsurprising that one day when we arrived and asked for her section we found she had quit. Hope you're doing well wherever you landed, Cindy!

What is it with Guam being the last refuge of dead brands? I understand K-Mart is pretty popular there as well

So that's what happened. When I lived in the U.S. and visited my family, I would hit Lone Star for a reasonable steak at a reasonable price, but they were gone last time I went home. Man, now I want steak.

I liked this place. My family went there for my birthday once. I remember you getting peanuts while you wait for a table and everyone just throwing the shells on the floor.

We had one here that closed in the early 2010s? Building just sat there for years and finally emerged as a First Watch.

My family went to one in the late 90s and my little brother kept saying his chicken tenders were chewy and my parents thought he was just being picky about his food, but it turned out they were raw and we never visited another Lone Star again.

I didn't know that Lone Star had closed, which is one reason why Lone Star closed.

Some day Guam will be a fantasy land of long-forgotten restaurants. "Look kids, a Lone Star! And a Hardees! Is that a Red Lobster over there!"

I guess most towns weren't big enough for a Lone Star Steakhouse, Long Horn Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse, and Logan's Roadhouse. 🤠

you could get a bucket of shelled peanuts at your table and just throw the empty shells on the floor and then one time a woman slipped on a pile of peanut shells and sued the crap out of the restaurant

We had a Lone Star that for years was one of the most successful restaurants in town, but then it went to shit and everybody quit going. The killing blow was when a Texas Roadhouse and a Long Horn opened across the street. Both are still popular but the Lone Star didn't last a year afterwards

I always confuse them with Longhorn Steakhouse, which still has locations near us.

I take it this chain is unrelated to the "Lone Star Texas Grill" chain of restaurants that still thrive in Canada.

I loved eating there as a kid. They had great honey mustard for their chicken fingers and it was fun throwing the peanut shells on the floor.

Still wishing for a Ponderosa reboot in Canada... Not because it was good, but nostalgia is a helluva drug

Ate here many times in the ‘90s. I wonder what Lone Star did so wrong and Texas Roadhouse did so right? Pretty much the exact same concept.

We still have a Lone Star Texas Grill in Canada funny enough. Not the same as this one though lonestartexasgrill.com
