They had the first generation of desktop computers in elementary schools in the 1970s. That's where we first encountered Oregon Trail. That's also where they taught us how to write code via rote memorization, which is why many of us know how to do it today but don't know how we know it.

Boomers are further to the right. Comparative data from reliable sources of political affiliation in the US shows each new generation becoming more liberal and more progressive overall, which is interesting given Dems in the 1970s were further to the left than they are as a whole today.

Gen X is not further to the right than their parent's generation. Statistical data from the Census Bureau and Pew Research are more reliable sources showing historical trends in political affiliation. Oregon Trail was invented in 1971 and played by the same kids who watched Breakfast Club in 1985.

As an older Gen X, you likely experienced the end of sixties economic prosperity and privilege. But I promise you, those of us born in the 70s with 8.5% interest rates on our college loans and civil backlash, were not impressed with what our parents did to the economy or our social progress.

Kavanaugh is basically a Boomer. Alex P. Keaton was a fictional character in an 80s TV show whose views were a satirized criticism of 80s conservative economic ideologies. Most Gen X were still kids in the 1980s who watched selfish Boomers start the culture wars for their own socioeconomic hegemony.
