Being a millennial means I got raised by parents, teachers, and Sesame Street telling me to be kind, share, don't fight, money doesn't buy happiness, and don't litter because it's bad for the planet and now as an adult when I advocate for that shit I get called a woke leftist fag
Gosh, this hits so hard 😭 I can't get through a conversation with my family anymore without it devolving into a screaming match over ideals that THEY taught me... It's maddening AND confusing. щ(o_oщ)
We feel this. Kinda like when we (GX) got told “be yourself” and “you can be anything you want to be!” and “work hard, apply yourself, and you WILL succeed” and “don’t worry about what others think!”- then we hit reality and found out that is ALL bullshit.
Yeah, the ugly mean fascists have reared their ugly heads so do what we did in the 80s
Get pissed, go get a pair of steel toed Docs and go forcefully change some minds
You have been prepared to approach whatever comes your way in life with grace. This is a great blessing.
People who rant on about woke don’t know what grace is. They are worthy of pity, as you might pity a feral, unfriendly animal.
My mum also used to say (of wealth) "you can't take it with you" which from an early age always struck me as A) extremely irrelevant for her, with no money, to say, and B) something a wealthy person would say to keep poor people poor.
The things that you said raised you and what they taught I was raised on that at as well. I'm not perfect but those lessons are what makes us good people never let that go.
For reeealll. I grew up on Captain Planet, and now when I make a controversial statement like "solar power is good," I get boomers yelling at me about how they don't work and it's all a hoax anyway. Like did y'all mean ANY of the stuff you told me as a kid?
You’re not a woke leftist fag because of that, you are because you don’t research enough about the topics you’re concerned about. If you do then you’re probably a completely reasonable, respectable person and my assumption is wrong which come to think of it, they usually are. But still consider this
