the idea that the court might in anyway affirm trump’s immunity claim fills me with incredible dread

So basically Trump has successfully used Scotus to avoid prosecution and will likely win 2024 and use the office to exonerate himself and go after everyone that tried to prosecute him.
It’s all over folks.

He’s basically won at this point. Everything is now effectively paused until the election no matter how they rule.
Trump will end up the next President (again)

It doesn’t seem to matter now since Scotus won’t even hear arguments until late April, won’t rule on it until June, and then any actual cases against him will push straight into the election.
Trump has won

I don’t disagree but what other choice do they have? They’ve never had any true national security and like it or not, they are there. This was the outcome of ww2 no matter the situation now and one side or the other gets displaced

Their entire goal is arguably to play the ‘genocide’ card to get international pressure to take down Israel and ultimately wipe them out and while Israel may be playing into their hands on this, a ceasefire will end their plan and they’ll do it again

Palestinians and Hamas were never going to settle and that’s why both sides have often intentionally nuked certain agreements and it’s why Hamas planned 10/7 to exacerbate the situation and they did so knowing that it would create a massive reaction and civilian deaths

Sure and this arguably strengthened Israel. They still have much of the world’s sympathy after 10/7

If you were Israel what would you do? Half the world already wants you dead and the other half just sees you as a tool for their religious or strategic agendas.

Yes and Israel certainly recognizes this but also has no plans to return things to where they were precisely because of 10/7 and because that will just happen again in another few years.

It has reached that point yes but Hamas still maintains a capable force and are still fighting

Israel would only suffer more if they attempted a more measured response and Hamas would probably have better strength to continue attacks/rockets against them. It’s no easy situation

There’s no great answer on how to fight a war against an entrenched enemy that blends seamlessly with the civilian population and does this to attain public outcry such as you are providing

And while Israel may be fighting it with ww2 era sensibilities towards civilians it’s still a war.

You think most of the world engages in wars without some civilian casualties being effectively necessary to achieve some goals? What do you think is happening here? We carpet bombed entire cities during ww2 and we still call those guys heroes.
