Gotta say, even my largely politics-is-not-for-me relatives on Facebook are having a fucking conniption over the SCOTUS ruling. My uncle posted "We left England because we don't want a King. Charles is an inbred." I'm not sure what one has to do with the other, but he's right.

This times a million. I've long collected sketches/alters from Magic artists, and was bummed when artists started charging a ton more about 10 years ago — until I realized they were responding to scalpers I'll gladly kick a few more bucks in the pot if it's going straight into the artist's pockets

As a former copy editor at a large metro, I can 2nd that the sportswriters were often smarter and more engaged I may be biased bc a sportswriter never sat me down to explain Ukraine, opening with "I know something about the region because my father was a CIA operative in China"

So one of my obsessions is the Magic card Atog — it's such a weird, goofy piece of art When I was more active on the con circuit, I'd ask artists to doodle on one. Some got it immediately, others thought I was nuts The first artist to do one for me was Stan Sakai, who jumped in with both feet

So, I'm not an expert on the novels (largely skipped them), but a lot of people have produced reader lists for the Horus Heresy series, the Gaunt's Ghosts series is still remembered fondly, and everyone loves The Infinite and the Divine Also Lexicanum is a great resource if you just want to browse

It really depends on what you mean by "getting into warhammer" — do you want to catch up on the lore? Did you want to assemble and paint some kits? The nice thing about not playing is that you can focus on the parts you like, rather than worrying about getting a cohesive army

Daily Beast today published a huge article on Bowman, saying he lost to "antisemitism" ... which it uses interchangeably with "anti-Israel" Those are not the same things, and it's kinda indicative of a thought process that arbitrarily lumps whole groups of people together
