I sat on a big boulder at a safe distance to watch these #caribou in the Tonquin Valley in the early fall. Stayed still and quiet in a big field and before I knew it they were all around me, checked me out a bit, then kept on their way. #nature #mammals #photography #Jasper

A love letter to The Wetlands Institute in New Jersey and the vast variety of wildlife that lives there. I saw birds, turtles, and horseshoe crabs on this trip. With a mostly soothing nature soundtrack. The Willets are a bit insistently noisy but I love them.

Here's something I don't see very often (as in I have 6 photos of this happening between 2006 and 2024). I guess that's good given how much I'd have to spend on suet. (Taken through the glass door because pileated #woodpeckers are very skittish & bolt at the slightest sound.)

You can't go into the actual cave but touring the exact replica that was reproduced down to the locations of the pebbles on the cave floor was a spectacular experience.
