PSA: if you're talking about doing actual political violence on social media in public, you are a dangerously ignorant twerp who lacks the situational awareness required to do anything useful for anyone.
Former medic for forest protectors & antiglobalization mobilizations here: wholly concur.
Those publicly calling for violence are:
-working off their probation(s)
-provocatuers
-paid infiltrators
-hopelessly stupid
-cops
-some/all or the above.
Block them, flee them: *never* talk/sit/meet with them!
Violence is oftentimes the only language the oppressors in our society speak.
But yeah posting about committing acts of political violence online is probably not the best course of action.
Like, it only even worked for McVeigh because what he wanted was to scare a thinly funded regulatory apparatus into focusing elsewhere and he had to be willing to get executed and evaporate children to do so. Theres not a thing you can blow up to solve "6-3 SCOTUS aligned with a fascist."
Listen if you’re in a country like Ireland game on. Call for as much political violence as you want. Eradicate a guillotine in your garden. Make a pop hit about execution styles. BUT if ur in a country where all institutions have already been eroded & full fascist rule is about a year away, don’t.
Like, there's a reason why I'm not fully stating how I feel about the Supreme Court on any public forum right now...
the fact that people can just brazenly post about wanting to do something like that just feels weird for some reason
Like today’s ruling gives Trump whatever legal freedoms he wants to jail whoever he wants for any reason he wants as long as he gets a corrupt judge to call it official duty.
So yah. Giving him a reason to arrest you is not a great idea.
Luckily, I haven't seen any of that.
There is a lot of playing around with the possibilities that the court has indicated are now legal and in play, but nothing serious.
Faine, were you aware of the incident in Arlington about ten years ago, when a local right-winger posted a credibly threatening blog post and the authorities gave him a little visit? (He quickly thereafter moved to NH.) Yeah, not the smartest move.
That's why, as pissed as I get at times, I will never advocate for violent actions against gov't officials.
It's a real quick way to find yourself in very hot water.
Oh sure, when the Supreme Court tries to overthrow the country, it's "an important legal precedent", but when _I_ try it, everyone is all "set down the toilet plunger and step away from the Wendy's drive-thru window".
I always practice restraint by imagining Paxton or Abbot have some kind of yeehaw gestapo monitoring texas. presumes competence not in evidence but they sure don't spend money on anything else.
