I’ve had over a decade to miserably marinate on an anti-democratic process in which, to my great sorrow, all my gloomiest, wildest predictions keep coming true.
Despite that, I still don’t think we’re doomed or that we should give up and walk into the sea en masse.
Honestly, I was alive to see the Soviet Union collapse, don't see why it can't happen to the United States. During Covid I got to see the potential new borders when Trump refused to fund states he didn't like and said states started sharing assistance.
"Slowly at first, and then all at once."
True everywhere. The advent of fascism in France is very scary to me as a dual citizen of France and the U.S. But I also know French history, and what the right was like under Giscard d'estaing, and think fascism has a long way to go to be as bad as that.
The thing is, THE THING IS, they EAT EACH OTHER. If they manage something like raising a lot of money for Dear Leader they FIGHT each other to steal it. MAGA all the way down means "I got mine, screw you!"
The thing I keep thinking about is all the evil bastards on the right scheming about how to leverage the new-found executive power. If Biden loses these guys will be hyped to push every boundary. It’s scary.
Oh I'm not walking into the sea by any means.
If fascists want me that bad, I have some things I'll want to try out in a practical setting.
The dark hued polearms in the 3rd picture are actual Scottish late medieval relics I carefully mounted on hafts. 1st pic is an old ditch blade on a long pole
14 years for me. I once thought it was important to be a witness to history, and it simply made me miserable and mistrusting of anyone who claims they're willing to fight for better and then immediately complains about liberals.
I've been disappointed too many times by the left to trust them.
