Basketball fan, tech enthusiast, and attorney (focused on IP, tech, and government stuff). Views are not my own, and whatever a retweet is called on Blusky does not represent an endorsement

I'm not sure the majority did rule it out. They accuse the dissent of fear mongering and dismiss the dissent's concerns over abuses of power, but they never actually say that the dissent is applying their framework incorrectly

The Supreme Court vacates and remands the lower court rulings on both the Texas and Florida social media content moderation laws, essentially punting on any kind of First Amendment ruling.

The thing about taking statutory interpretation away from the agencies is that Congress actually has power over those agencies, but does not have power over the Court. It’s power grab in the guise of helping; it’s “helping” in a paternalistic, condescending, unchecked manner.

It's hard to explain how widespread the repercussions of overturning Chevron deference will be. Even if you narrow the scope down to tech policy, you're left wrangling a super-explainer on a friday afternoon www.theverge.com/24188365/che...

Tbh the problem is that tech keeps trying to get AI to do the interesting stuff. The great stuff AI can do is take care of a lot of drudgery so that you can focus on the interesting stuff

You all did it. You (kind of) killed Microsoft Recall.

After weeks of withering privacy and security criticism of the AI-enabled silent recording feature in Windows, Microsoft now says it will be disabled by default when it rolls out later in June.

That's not entirely correct. From a copyright perspective, it's fine to take someone's thoughts or ideas. Only the taking of expression is actionable. Which is one of the reasons that AI scraping - which takes and uses expression decoupled from thought or idea - is a real copyright issue.

It's so appalling that this story about the rabbi smuggling Torah scrolls out of the synagogue while a single US combat veteran sympathetic to Antifa held off the Nazis didn't get wider press. It enrages me every time a Jew justifying police violence on campus hasn't heard this story.
