I started watching The Danish Girl, pre-transition, and stopped very early on because I was in tears, and I have no idea whether or not I should watch it.

I wonder if deer is wrong in the same way that kangaroo is wrong.
Encountering a kangaroo in the wild is... a lot. Most of the time they'll just hop away, but sometimes not.
The kangaroos that tourists take photos of are very different to encountering a 6-foot-plus red kangaroo in the bush.

One of the things I'm still coming to terms with after socially transitioning is "the look".
I get looks, I'm early in my transition, I know that I'm not passing yet.
But there's *THE look*, the one that I get from middle-aged cisgender men. [shudder]
Thank you, I genuinely hate it.

Instead of going back to the rental agent and trying to get someone on the phone at 8pm, we had the tech's number and I just texted him.
He came back yesterday and found that he'd accidentally obscured a secondary problem while fixing the first one.

This is absolutely true.
Our gas ducted heating stopped working on Saturday (midwinter in Melbourne, AU), and the tech came at 5pm on Monday and fixed it.
Three hours later the house started filling up with the smell of burninating PVC instead of heat.

No joke here (sorry):
Homelessness in Finland is very low because they provide small apartments and mental health support without any conditions attached to it.
80% of those who use it get jobs , gain stable housing, and sobriety
But thanks for the plastic trash can in NYC, Mayor Adams

I wrote this question late last night local time, and it hindsight it feels a bit autistically blunt, and I apologise if it caused any pain.

Best episode of TV I ever watched?
Star Trek DS9, In The Pale Moonlight
An unabashedly brutal example of how far we'll go to take down authoritarianism. Some of Avery Brooks' finest work in the series & no matter how many times I see it (I do a yearly series rewatch) it hits harder each time

I’m so very glad that I waited to watch DS9. I missed it in the 90’s, and finally watched it through about 3 years ago. I could not have appreciated it the same way if I’d watched it when I was younger.

“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.

It’s a wishlist of things that I Have heard talked about by Australian fundie Pentecostals, that was imported from the USA.

Imagine, right, if there were all these spare computing resources just… doing nothing. Just requiring some investment.
Thinking machines that could run rings around the fastest supercomputers at doing human stuff, just lacking resources and investment.
Imagine if society invested in them.

Me: doctor, I don't feel well
Doctor: do you have a cough?
Me: that's the funny thing, it's not so much a cough, it's more of a 'moo' sound
Doctor: oh dear, I'm afraid it's... Bovid
Me: should I take time off work?
Doctor: absolutely, milk it for all its worth

It’s wild, particularly in the face of the wannabe dictator’s open hatred of the MSM. Like… “damn guys, when he’s wiping the cheeseburger grease off his hands with the Constitution, y’all think he’s going to leave 1A alone?”

Remember how the "retail theft crime wave" disappeared as soon as companies had to do their annual reports? That's because it's illegal to lie to shareholders.
