"In total, 175 Conservative MPs lost their seats last week, and you just know that their primary mission is now to ruin television as much as they can for the rest of us." IF NO ONE WATCHES, ADVERTISERS WILL NOT HANG AROUND. SO DON'T BOTHER WATCHING. I think I'd rather drink hemlock, personally.

As a general principle, I don't like the data controller having so much more say over the data than the subject really. People often cite "oh, lots of nations have ID cards". Yes, like many EU nations. But they also tend to have explicit constitutional protection on citizen's rights concerning data

(that was the basic structure of what was presented in the white paper and was in the draft Bill, as I remember.)

in 2009, you as the subject of the data, were responsible for the accuracy of the record. The state, the controller of the data had no obligation to change it. So you could inform them the data was wrong, and they could ignore you . Then later they could prosecute you for the record being wrong.

Toilet etiquettes for some groups of overseas students were apparently significantly different, and they may have been tempted to ... ahem ... improvise. It hadn't always gone terribly well, by some accounts.

It's hard getting stuff "out there" these days. We're trying to build a little Mulgrave Audio world of vintage weirdness. If you've enjoyed our stuff, maybe consider an RT, a share, a Bandcamp review, anything like that? It all helps enormously - thanks.

I don't mind ID cards as tokens per se. I DO mind where previous legislation back in 2009-10 placed the balanced between rights and obligations between citizen and state. Without significant change there I'd still oppose them for that reason.

It's the bind of signing up to be a part of any kind of corporate culture. If you disagree with the corporate policy, how long too you wait before poking your head over the top and voicing it?

The use of the word "victim" is quite illuminating though. It's quite passive, and you'd almost think they had no agency at all in any of it, including every vote where they dutifully sampled into the correct lobby, and did as was bid.

Forty years ago today. Guest appearance on the Little and Large Show from Roy "Spook" Jay, who had already become a minor sensation in our school playground. I was saving up for prison pyjamas and a pair of white gloves. "You'll all be doing it tomorrow..." (and we were) #slither

Forty years ago today. The 'Mysteries' we studied included the Loch Ness Monster, UFOs and the Bermuda Triangle but not - curiously - how we managed to get away with essentially doing bugger all at school every day.

A senior NATO official said today that Russia's sabotage campaign across Europe is a "more concerted, more aggressive effort, than what we’ve seen certainly since the Cold War...we’re seeing sabotage, assassination plots, arson — real things that have cost human lives,” CNN reports.

More than 400,000 people were denied a vote in the UK General Election because of the Tories’ voter suppression, mainly from ethnic minority groups. This needs to be tackled immediately.

Forty years ago today. Weary Valley was a little beauty spot of rustling trees and sparkling water, and this was a perfect Swallows And Amazons day. Me, Doug, Stan and Ramsey on a tiny dinghy in blazing sunshine, laughing all day without a care in the world.

I always take it to mean the slightly nonplussed way that those who did "Greats" or History looks askance at anyone who knows how to create a formula in Excel, and thinks they are some kind of wizard, or 21st century equivalent of a haruspex.

The original albums in the top 4 are a tough lot to rank. If I were pushed I'd probably have 1. ANWR, 2. OOTB, 3. Time, 4. Discovery but I think it's hard with that level of work. With ANWR, I'm always reminded of the "too many notes" conversation in Amadeus. There's not a note out of place there.

I was explaining to an English coworker how there’s a different Tayto crisps in Ireland and Northern Ireland with a different Mr Tayto. He said, “I get it. When you eat the Irish crisps, you’re eating the body of Mr Tayto. When you eat the Northern Irish crisps, it represents the body of Mr Tayto.”

Italian prosecutors in Milan investigated how Dior is producing their handbags.

They found that the workers were sleeping in the facility so bags could be produced around the clock.

Consumers pay $2,780 per bag.
The production of the bags costs Dior $57.
