Fun Fact: Teslas have killed over twice as many people as the exploding Ford Pinto did at a roughly similar level of sales. the Pinto sold ~3 million units & killed at least 27 people. Tesla is now creeping up on 5 million total vehicles & 95 deaths from battery fires or autopilot crashes.

In 2016 Trump pledged to ban abortion & punish anyone who gets one. His judicial picks overturned Roe. He's surrounded himself with sworn enemies of reproductive rights. No matter how much backtracking he tries to do, know that he will ban abortion if given a chance.

1. US #measles update: There's been a big jump — 50% — recently in cases, with the year-to-date total now at 97. Eighteen jurisdictions have reported cases.
There were 58 cases in total in 2023.

1. In the first 2 months (plus 1 week) of 2024, the US has racked up 78% as many #measles cases as the country detected in 2023. Last year there were 58 cases in 20 jurisdictions. So far this year, 45 cases in 17 jurisdictions, up 4 cases & 1 jurisdiction (Illinois) from last week.

If you use culture positive SARS-CoV-2, the best metric for potential infectiousness, 1 in 3 people can transmit Covid 5 days after symptoms onset. Rapid antigen tests track well with that metric. They should be used, despite lack of support in the new CDC policy. cdc.gov/respiratory-...

Syphilis Is Killing Babies. The US is Failing to Stop the Disease From Spreading. The only drug to treat syphilis during pregnancy is in short supply. Untreated, syphilis can pass to newborns, killing them or leaving them w/ disabilities. As cases rise, the US isn’t doing much to prevent shortages.
