A quick thread with some hope in it. My city, Greensboro, NC, has several of these glass recycling stations at local libraries and other locations. The bins are —always— full, or near to it.

We used to have some that would wander up to the door and eat nuts in front of my old cat while making direct eye contact with her. Every now and then they would charge the door. Squirrels are like the honey badgers of the rodent world.

So, awhile ago I was spiraling pretty badly and then your brain gremlins thing popped up in my mailbox. I know it's not exactly a story but it was kind of exactly what I needed at the time. It's one of a very few stories/newsletters/whatever that I can point to and say that definitively helped me.

Confraternity of Christian Doctrine: basically catholic Sunday school for kids. I was constantly in trouble for asking questions (I went to the very conservative church instead of the local one because of my dad) and they hated that. Turns out comics, VTM, and D&D was the last straw.

Oof. This brings back the time when my dad found my comics and TTRPG stash. It was all taken away and then I got to have a nice long talk with the local Monsignor about the pagan/demonic influences in my life. Decent ending though: I was kicked out of CCD post-talk.

Honestly? Price. I had a failing HDD and needed to get the data off asap. IIRC it was like 80 US. I didn't look up anything about reliability (I have since and the Canvio seems fine) this was just a "OH GOD! I need to get this data off asap."

So, I think we've been over why I'm a huge fan and why she is but what the hell: I'm an NB and seeing Taru being a badass NB in Savage helped me sort through it and come out. My cousin's kid saw herself in your books and that made her a reader. Hell, more than a reader. She CONSUMES books now.
