I painted the little dancing-crab rocks. The white rocks in the blue bowl have been collected up & down the West Coast (USA). I call them "ghost rocks." Their surface feels silky to the touch, and they have a glow about them. They impart a sense of purity, like moonlight.

Teapot is Franciscan Ivy by Gladding McBean, introduced in 1948. The company began in 1934 in Los Angeles, but is currently owned by WWRD (Waterford Wedgwood Royal Doulton), which still produces two Franciscan patterns, now in UK: Apple & Desert Rose.

I saw them all the time when I lived in SoCal (they liked to dine in my patio pond, for one thing) and miss my daily sightings now that I'm in NW Washington State, but I've got daily Blue Herons here, and Bald Eagles, so it's a fair tradeoff. I still see egrets occasionally. 😊

As a kid, I adored that magazine, plus we had shelf after shelf of the Condensed Books, which I devoured. I didn't live near a library, and only received books at birthday & Christmas, so those WERE my library.
