Our tech overlords would like to make clear that your fantasies of universal health care and affordable housing are childish while their fantasies of infinite energy to power their AI girlfriends are reasonable expectations and will come true imminently. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
My question is: where is all that money they're paying to the power grid going? Are they just creating new billionaires who are in charge of energy companies? Or is any of that money going to transitioning to clean energy solutions?
Would be nice if they end up helping accidentally.
"Some say impossible" (about their new energy-winning technique that would make this AI bullshit feasible) - I don't know, maybe instead of some, they could have said "serious scientists"?
Ahhh yes, fusion will finally be achieved by ... [checks notes] the people who brought you the chatbot that became so racist after one day on the Internet that it had to be unplugged.
Tech AI centers should be given a quota of power every month, and once they reach it, pull the plug. Crypto farms should be forced to make their own power and not allowed on the grid.

I wish them the very best of luck and a titanic technical/scientific breakthrough. But, uh, having reviewed their stuff I ain’t gonna hold my breath. Stupid money and wishful thinking is foundation of any grift.
It's easy to find uses cases where an incorrect/incomplete answer is very bad, and the typical CTO response would be that we don't apply Gen AI to every use case. Which means there are use cases where it's okay to return incorrect/incomplete answers? And we want to enable that?
While Microsoft says they *expect to harness fusion by 2028*, I’m not holding my breath for 2028.
I am, however, bullish as fuck on getting fusion up-and-running as soon as possible.
Scientist: What if we make an AI so horrible, nobody wants it, causing a mass luddite event? People give up using power hungry devices leaving more power for our AI fembots!
Other scientists: Shut up, Chad! People need to subscribe to our AI based on their consumer output to fund the fembots. Duh!
