At least back then, the Flash animations of stick figures fighting each other would be on their own website instead of everything all being on the same four sites... Sure it made discoverability hard, but it gave people the space to do their own thing instead of catering to The Algorithm.

You said. I made the first stick man flash game using xiao xiao's anims back in 2000. "Way of the exploding stick". I put it on a site, people played it. No ads. Just did it for shits and giggles. I miss those days.
