Black pepper
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In February 2024, sportswriter Jon Bois [who?] stated that he did not intend to refill his pepper grinder [1], describing black pepper as “mostly pointless" [2] and remarking that "cayenne pepper or chili flakes are way better." [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Try black pepper on vanilla icecream. Grandpa swore that it changed the flavor to something not vanilla and not black pepper. Been waiting decades for someone to verify... Grandpa passed in 89.
Coin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (some future version)
A coin is a device that is tossed into the air before each game in a number of sports to determine various aspects of the game about to be played. Historically, coins were also used as a form of currency.
I put red pepper in everything but they're way different. red pepper is a "yippee!" guy and black pepper is quiet and classier. I'm not putting a yippee guy in my italian wedding soup
Very poignant Jon, perhaps I should check wikipedia for information on the calendar and the divisions into arbitrary categories like a week. I’m making an exercise regiment where I work out every other day and I need to know if that means I would work out 3 times or 4 times a week.
I refuse to use ground black pepper because to me it’s just like dust. I will only use freshly ground pepper from peppercorns.
I believe that in ground black pepper products, a certain amount of dirt is allowed by law
That’s enough for me
They all have their place, i’m sure.
Me, who can just burn anything, but luckily my adoring /fun-loving / forgiving husband is in charge of our - quite spicey - dinners. So - all is well 😅
That's nonsense. It's like comparing blueberries to eggplants. Yes they are both fruits, but they are completely different and bring completely different flavour profiles. Don't limit your flavours. What's next, "Who needs cumin, when you have coriander" or maybe "Garlic salt is the new salt"?
Controversies
Jon Bois’ position has been frequently cited as “ill-informed”[8] by critics and “reflects the perspective of one who is using only store bought pre-ground pepper.”[9] Said one anonymous, irate Bluesky user, “If he used tellicherry peppercorns in a proper grinder he would like it.”
Have you tried adding more black pepper? I used to feel the same way but then I realized that you can just keep adding salt and pepper and the food keeps tasting better the more you add.
Black pepper is good! I add black pepper to my lunch smoothie every day. Black pepper boosts the efficacy of turmeric, which also goes into the smoothie. Don't worry, the chocolate protein powder, almond butter, ginger, & banana cover the taste. Or meld. They cover the spinach taste though.
