The question was “how would you feel” and it seems like people are mad at him for saying how he would feel. I guess he could have said something like, I haven’t thought about that because this isn’t about me and my feelings and I’m focused on winning.

It was pretty bad. I remember him coming back to the White House and walking up the steps, visibly struggling to breathe, then inexplicably saluting a helicopter? He also gave Covid to Chris Christie, for whom I harbor no affection but he got really sick and had to go to the ICU.

If you’d like a book about 2008, I enjoyed “Game Change” by John Helleman and Mark Halperin. Their 2012 follow-up “Double Down” was also compelling.

People check to see if images are offensive and when they mess up, they apologize. This isn’t rocket science.

My issue is that their age isn’t the problem. It’s a proxy for the problem, which is their cognitive condition. If they were older but eloquent, sharp and well spoken, I think people would have fewer concerns about their age.

It literally has a picture of an assistive device with the presidential seal attached and says “no way to run a country.” If they didn’t mean to imply people who need assistive devices are unfit for public office, they should have chosen a different image.

It’s a weak choice of symbol. If Biden or Trump or Obama or any former president had needed to use an assistive device to walk, that would bot have been disqualifying. This implies that physical disability makes one unfit to serve and that’s not the case.

If it’s about these specific candidates, why not picture them? It’s not edgy or clever. It’s weak and it’s wrong.

It’s a weak metaphor because it can be misinterpreted and it’s shameful to imply people who need assistive devices are unfit for office.

So presidents who need assistive devices are unfit to serve? I think that’s a shitty message for people who need assistive devices.

If they didn’t intend to imply the use of assistive devices is disqualifying, why put a picture of one on the cover? People of all ages use them, just like glasses. If that wasn’t what they meant, they should have used a different image.
