So you’re saying that me telling a jury that the opposing party is “more awful than 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons” is not the rhetorical brilliance I think it is

Depends, did you think that was a Daily power because it’s really only an encounter power at best.

4e wasn't even that bad. Just weird. I mean. 5e is better, but I did like the minions mechanic.

A slick burn if I was the only jurist. Seems unlikely, though.

Bringing that up in Jury selection would get me struck because that morally low opinion is also made in bad taste

Nothing I can find suggests that you are not allowed to strike potential jurors on the basis of their knowledge (or lack thereof) of TTRPGs.

Well if you have that opportunity you've gotta take it. (And in my own advocacy I allow myself the occasional inside joke whose only audience is me. It keeps the job fun. But it's crucial to recognize that allowance for what it is.)

I was all aboard the 4e hate train, then I actually played it and found I liked it. I could never get intp 5e, though. PF won that one, and PF2 is even better.

I write patient-facing communications with a bunch of MDs and pharmacists, and I cannot tell you how many times I have to play the "the person to whom you are sending this did not go to medical school, this alphanumeric gibberish means nothing to them" card.
