“Hounded one of their own out of office” = removed him due to sexual misconduct, which was the correct thing to do. As seems particularly pertinent today, we can’t look the other way when people on “our side” do it; the responsibility for the “lost opportunity” lies solely with Franken.

The current govt knows its defeat is unavoidable and is torching as many public institutions as it can, so Labour will fail to fulfil anything. The result will be more backlash against minoritised people because if they can’t enact positive policy they’ll throw crusts to these loud, awful people.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled that the Tories are (hopefully) going to be absolutely smashed. But the Labour Party that will form government is one whose leader has publicly ignored the Equality Act to piss on trans people, and whose most prominent faces are urging him to break bread with bigots.
