Yes. Part of this is because of fear, but also part of it is because of training. White women are systematically kept from experiencing consequences, which would teach them how to live in discomfort and create change. Two things capitalism and patriarchy wouldnāt survive.

sometimes I do feel despair about how the accepted viewpoint of so many people I once trusted is now indistinguishable from the conservative takes we all decried early pandemic of "well, high risk people are going to die anyways" and "disabled people should just stay home then."

My toxic trait is that I literally believe that recycling is a psy op started by the government to stop us from caring about AIDS. Think about it. Every time we start to develop empathy as a society, weāre distracted by recycling. The latest was plastic straws and shopping bags b/c of BLM.

This was one person. One racist who repeatedly called in complaints on the same Pho spot for āsmelling like a wok.ā
The city listened to obviously racist ranting and fined the restaurant out of business at that location. He has two other spots outside of Portland.
