But campaign skills are relevant to whether he can win the election he is in right now.

It should be quite clear I am not a fan of Trump. I am begging Democrats to own up to their own mistakes in order to learn from them. I did not enjoy the 1st Trump Administration. Someone competent needs to get ahold of the controls of this plane because it appears to be in a death spiral.

How did Biden do in the 2024 primary debates?

Please cite your source regarding the thing that did not occur. Polls of names before any campaigning occurs are not persuasive for me.
We would be in better shape if Biden had, in fact, emerged from a hard fought campaign as a victor. It would be hard to then argue he's not capable of campaigning.

You mean the individual states that decided who was on the ballot in October, before some candidates had announced? That's an odd coincidence too as was choosing this year to reshuffle the primary calendar.

DC just needs statehood. That's another problem. Why haven't we added a state since 1959? That's my entire lifetime.

I'm a tragic optimist, though, so I absolutely understand that fascists are motherfuckers who must be stopped. You know what really helps fascists? Undemocratic processes that make it too easy for a minority to win power even when a majority votes against them.

Yes. Unlike the Founders, I have a fairly optimistic view of human nature, so I *love* democracy. I would abolish the Electoral College if I were granted temporary absolute power. Presidents should be elected by popular vote.
I'd settle for uncapping the House, which all Democrats should be for.

Their delegate selection plan could have been democracy forward instead of what it was.
Quite a coincidence the rules kept challengers off some ballots.
Here's a little read about how things really work.

Williamson & Palmer are outsiders ; RFK had nothing to lose since his career imploded. I actually admired Phillips' stones for running. Pretty sure he knows his future propects are now toast.
Or, possibly, this debacle will finally get Dems to understand democracy is good actually.

I imagine that letting the word go out that they would not be punishing anyone for running a primary campaign would have been enough. Plenty of Democrats dream of being President but challenging an incumbent who is running is understood as not being the thing one does.

According to Democratic wisdom since 1980, if a sitting President wants to run for re-election, you don't run against them.
Reportedly Bernie flirted with the idea in 2012 and Reid talked him out it. Part of the vitriol against him in 2016 I would imagine. His audacity needed to be punished.

Yet suggesting that a contested primary would be good for voter enthusiasm and turnout to my Democratic friends in 2022 had some of them furious with me. A few leapt to the conclusion I wanted Bernie to ruin things for them again.

I feel like I'm going crazy because people who supposedly cover politics keep talking about having until convention or a floor fight. But, unless something has changed, delegates have to vote considerably before the convention to be on the Ohio ballot.

Mitch McConnell & Chuck Grassley are right there. Washington DC has a "too old" problem. Although, I probably don't care as much about Republicans because the more incapacitated they are, the better.

In addition to taking concrete action to rein in the Court, we have got to demand a lot of powers that got expanded as part of War on Terror get sunsetted so they aren't also lying "about like a loaded weapon".
