To be fair, the alternate universe where Hillary Clinton is finishing up her second term and there's only 7 supreme court justices because she never held the senate for even a second, is probably really annoying to live in too.
Yeah, no one ever explains how she gets any supreme court nominees past McConnell who explicitly said he wasn’t going to do it. It’s just assumed (talk about green lantern theory)
If HRC wins then McConnell’s gambit looks like a loser and the GOP Senate approves compromise candidates. A lot of Rs in the Senate were lukewarm about the blockade.
Tbf looking at it historically HRC would probably have been a one term presidency. It seems pretty rare for a party to hold the office for a full 16 years.
I’m more interested in the alternative universe where Trump is running for his second term after Clinton lost in 2020, except more people died from COVID, Congress never approved her proposals of CTC, so there’s stagflation, and Congress is even more gerrymandered to the GOP’s favor.
I still contend if Hillary had won in 2016, the 2018 midterms would have been a total wipeout, and we’d be in year 4 of a Trump trifecta because we’d have spent 2020 grinding through a Covid-induced depression
I didn't think a Trump 2016 was much more likely than most people around me but I was low key *very* worried about Clinton win with R senate. It would have been so gd aggravating.
