SpaceX can't find paying customers for more than half its current launches, which it has to fill with satellites for its money-losing Starlink internet service. Scale has brought lower launch costs but not more viable space-based businesses to pay for them, and doubling down won't change that.

Hundreds of Starship launches per year between Florida and Texas, forget multiple times per day from four launch sights, means sending an almost incomprehensible amount of material into space, by historical standards. Somehow, nobody has explained how putting all that stuff in space makes a buck.

Their business model is to live off government spending. Yes, they are lowering the cost of putting payloads in the space, but they are fully counting on NASA to line up those payloads. Bezos wants NASA to set up a permanent base on the moon. Musk wants NASA to send astronauts to Mars.

What are your thoughts on the report from Quilty (some consulting firm) laying out why they think Starlink is profitable? Got some coverage, curious what you think?

No. No. And No. They should not be destroying the environment and putting up space junk. No. Isn't there a cancel option?

Have they run out of billionaires who want to take a jolly little expedition into space?

gonna have to build some planned obsolescence into the starlink satellites! it’s gotta be weird to him that he can’t hide his failures. if we couldn’t just look up and see launches, you know he would be saying there were a bazillion more than there were.
