The fact that every mainstream news site is now locked behind a paywall is a real boon for the spread of misinformation, because very few right wing sites have paywalls — which means their disinfo and propaganda can spread much more easily. Paywalls are a slow motion disaster.

I could see that as a way to read it. I took it as a book that spent 90% of the page count making the argument “some people are different just because, and that is ok”. Then destroys it in the last 10% by revealing even this character is different because of circumstances out of their control.

Imagine if instead of making COVID isolation guidelines as weak as the flu... We approved combo rapid tests like this and made them free and available for everyone... So that people could tell how long they need to isolate based on science and not feelings, whatever the pathogen.

I am excited to get to all of them. If only I could get around those pesky life responsibilities (kids, job, etc...). Will get to them in time. Based on what I already like and what people say of the series I will probably fall hard once I get one or two under my belt.

I fully understand. Have multiple copies of my favorites. Sometimes from genuine interest in variations. American Gods: two paperbacks (one in case I need to give it away), Tenth Anniversary Preferred author's text Hardback (signed), Annotated 10th Anniversary, Graphic Novel adaptation.

Able-bodied folks must understand that they only have two possible futures: dying young or aging into disability. Disability justice is for you, too. Policies such as n95s in healthcare settings will keep you healthy longer. Can you at least be strategically selfish if you can’t be a decent ally?

What Gen Xers/Millennials/Gen Z are doing right is allowing for the OPEN recognition that being adult doesn't mean you have to give up things that give you joy, in exchange for being an adult. The "childish things" we're meant to put away are things like lack of care, not things that give delight.

Yes, this brings the CDC guidelines for COVID into line with guidelines for RSV and influenza. It's not just that is COVID more severe. The guidelines for RSV and influenza are not right either. We need universal paid sick leave, not permission to return to work while still contagious.

Worked at a theater when it came out. We did not have 3D at that time. So I went to another theater to watch it with a friend. After one 3D watch we were hooked and made it an almost daily ritual to watch together. Saw it 6 times in 3D and another 4 in 2D. Still the best use of 3D I have seen.
