Pillars 1 was for me a better inheritor of the Planescape: Torment legacy than some of the games branded as such... Reading this makes me very hopeful for what obsidian continue to wring out of this setting

At least in character action games, the gameplay is more narrowly focused. I'm more likely to remember that I've unlocked something and take time to practice it. In RPG-lites there's too much other shit distracting from the combat systems and much less reason to care

Idk why I can never gel with RPG lite "unlock move" progression systems in gow/horizon/etc, like "spend 2 ability pts and you can press r2+l1 following a heavy attack to do an aerial flip to land behind your enemy"... How tf am I supposed to remember that?
