This is genuinely crazy to me. We're a 100% EV house, and charging is *sometimes* a *minor* issue when we do 3+ hour drives to other states.

I don’t get this either! Usually drive an EV but had to rent a car recently and was legitimately annoyed at having to think about going somewhere to get gas.

It's only ever come up once, and that was when we were considering going to to Yellowstone and realized it was impossible. But I do miss knowing that a gas station is a gas station and will work for me.

It's probably people who can't charge at home.

I always thought the best transition would be for people to go from ICE --> --> Hybrid --> Plug in Hybrid --> BEV. But I didn't think manufacturers wanted the PHEV step for well reasoned logistical issues. But it looks like they'll be forced into it anyways.

Rarely do we need to charge on the go but when we do finding an available charger that will take payment has been a motherfucker

I'm not saying the McKinsey study is wrong, I just don't get what is going through peoples' heads. Many, many such cases.

It's not bad in terms of charging options in my area, but it's not great, either. What does make it work is that our EV is the work commuter and can just sit at home charging which I know isn't an option for most people. Without home charging here it wouldn't work at all.

I switched back. Owned a Tesla and a Rivian. Neither would achieve greater than 210 miles of range, even though they’re both listed as being able to do over 300. But with the Tesla I could find more charging options. But CCS was a pain. Fort Wayne has no fast chargers for CCS. It’ll be awhile for me

I hate to put it this way but “sometimes minor” is not what people want to hear, they want to hear never

I’m guessing you live in a single family home. Many people in condos or apartments literally do not have a place to plug an EV in.

It makes perfect sense to me. Pretty much no one in multi-family rentals has access to home charging.

I genuinely cannot consider EVs, as at times I drive up to 16 hrs/day for work. Charging stops would add days to those trips.

In Texas one can drive for five hours and still be in Texas.

I always hear a lot of people clamoring for 30K EV's when reading replies to EV articles, and they're actually being produced now. Pretty sure demand is going to go up in the next few years.

I want to agree with you, but my recent road trip to Montreal in my EV became a nightmare because of limited charging options. bsky.app/profile/prin...

When the ability to charge my vehicle becomes as ubiquitous and convenient as the ability to refuel my gas car, I will consider electric. just a side note, you can't walk to the nearest station to get a gallon of electricity when you run out on the road.

Like most polls, I don’t buy them. Average people aren’t going to respond to polling calls, texts or emails. We’ll see what the sales show. All I know is between having solar panels and having an EV - aside from the purchase price, I never have to pay for transportation.
