Yeah on aggregate, but that means you're getting passed by cars frequently, often dangerously. I personally take the longer routes on residential streets to minimize time spent on these busy streets. I'm fine taking 5 minutes longer, better than taking infinitely long because I am dead!

I initially wrote it off, but everything I have heard about it makes me like it more. I think it's kinda funny that two of the biggest wizard society anime/manga stories right now (this + Witch Hat Atelier) feel like they read HP and said "this fucking sucks, I'm going to write something better"

Anime conventions are like that too, for anime related media. It feels like super hero comics, manga, and indie comics/zines are three completely separated scenes, and the one that provides the most accessibility to new artists is the one with the least attention and money!

Absolutely agree on #1, I'm not sure about that second point, bike speed is in the range of 10-15mph, drivers tend to go 25-35mph on busy streets.

-Cycling at a moderate pace requires dedicated bike lanes/residential streets, a moderate pace in a busy street is going to lead to driver rage.
-Honestly as a very fit individual, this is my biggest incentive to get an e-bike, and I consider it constantly

I am personally a believer in the "chaos monkey" theory of why polls are broken (random respondents are increasing noise on select low response, high D polarized groups, causing these groups to move towards 50-50, and thus move the aggregate towards R) www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/...

I want leather boots but I have funky shaped feet (wide toe box, high arches, narrow ankles) and every leather boot maker is like "it will hurt at first you just gotta break it in" no dude my feet will break first.

I think "don't go to states which explicitly outlaw the existence of myself and/or my friends" is a reasonable position, and a position which has actually helped those causes in the past.

American public transit will never compete with cars on convenience until we stop forcing every home and business to provide copious amounts of free parking, which spreads out destinations to the point that transit isn’t scalable and makes walking profoundly unpleasant.

Yes, with a bigger population pool you need to draw a smaller percentage to reach the same number of people, but you still need to work to develop it. America does have a indie comic and zine scene, enough to sustain publishers and stores, but it feels like a separate scene from anime/manga fans.

Yes, a huge advantage that Japan has is the huge population that can do a one day trip to Tokyo, vs the population in America who can do the same to an American city. Tokyo alone is bigger than any American city, and has several million+ population cities a one day train trip away

Everyone was scared that low information swing voters would be swayed by all the bad faith Biden coverage, but maybe it's so bad faith that even the low information swing voters think it's bad faith (this is possibly supported by the lack of change in national polls)

Dem weirdos dreaming up tournament-style solutions to Joe Biden being the nominee and Catturd-grade reactionary types crying about cheating in the French election have one crucial thing in common, which is that they transparently lack the emotional maturity and patience required to be sports fans.

They want to dismantle the national weather service!!! "If the right wins you will no longer be able to trust that even the weather forecast is true!" (NOAA, an agency they want to disband, provides the raw data that both public and private weather forecasting services use)

"end NOAA" okay everything here is crazy but like, this is crazy. How will weather forecasting work? Are they going to spin up an anti-woke NOAA? Are they going to have a private NOAA?
