claiming hypocrisy in cases like this is missing the point. they have completely consistent beliefs: they and their friends should be able to do whatever they want without consequence, and everyone else should be subservient to them.
Helps to point out that, in their confirmations, the question was if the PRESIDENT was above the law. The question was not predicated on “if you personally like the president and owe him a favor.” Totally different standard of justice. The law is a precise endeavor you know
Their hypocrisy is a display of power. They advertise it. Everyone else sputters and points, failing to grasp that they are just seeing a reminder of who is the master.
To quote Frank Wilhoit:
"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
And it seems too many people are too eager to let that be the case. We used to beat people up for what Republicans are doing, now people act as though we need a specific evil party that gets away with everything.
