Fun fact: The reason the stump fees for political candidates are so high is because Thatcher hated having to share the podium with joke candidates on election night, so she tried to price them out. Pleased to see it hasn't made a difference.

The official ones are all dreadful in a variety of ways. An experienced GM can compensate, but I wouldn't *recommend* any of them. Instead, maybe try War of the Burning Sky from EN Publishing? That's got its flaws as well but it's better than any of the Wizards stuff.

Yeah, if I lived in a marginal Labour/Tory seat I'd scowl and vote Labour. But I don't. Instead I live in one of the safest Tory seats in the country so I'm voting Lib Dem because they're the only ones with the tiniest chance of unseating the blues.

One or two elections ago there was a prominent tactical voting site which was run by the Lib Dems and just told you to vote for them no matter where you were asking about, and the naked corruption there has made me incredibly suspicious of the rest of them.

I don't hate Gurps, but it never grabbed me and I think it just felt very, very dry. Also, this was the mid-90s and the two sourcebooks I was able to find (Gurps Uplift and some supers setting) both referenced two *other* sourcebooks that I had no idea how to track down.

When my dad was teaching me to drive back in the 90s, he gave me the solid advice 'never trust a BMW driver'. They're still pretty bad, but Audi drivers claimed the asshole crown about ten years ago and don't seem in danger of being caught.

My grandfather used to while away spare hours in his garage making miniature working steam engines. My dad does the same with miniature petrol engines (for model aircraft). I do the same with game engines, but it's not really the same. 😐

It's an interesting question. I feel like 4th ed D&D definitely drew on video gamey mechanics -- disenchanting/re-enchanting, aggro management (sort of), and keywording for effects spring to mind -- but I'm sure there must have been something earlier.

I use Designer for RPG layout stuff. It's not *quite* as good as Indesign, and I think that if you're a big professional you'll probably really feel the difference, but for a small-time guy like me it's perfect.
