What Frum said. Biden is old and did not perform well, but the reason for the crisis is Republicans backing an authoritarian who attempted a coup. The fate of American democracy cannot and must not depend on one party always winning elections.

How does violence impact satisfaction with democracy? Using data from South Africa, I examine how proximal exposure to violent riots shapes South African views of democracy. Even when controlling for endogeneity, I find a corrosive effect.

I really enjoy light roasts! Generally, I prefer a medium roast with chocolatey undertones. I don't like dark roasts, usually (though some exceptions do occur).

Mass rape is absolutely an absolute disaster. Widespread denialism that Hamas and PIJ fighters engaged in wanton sexual violence a further disaster. Attempts to delegitimize anyone writing about it, perhaps even more so. Here's the article for those with minds open enough to engage with discomfort.
