I totally think organizing and fighting to make the world better instead of giving up is worth it. I’m even excited to do it for the people who are mad at me for saying so and have already said they’d abandon me and my family to “the camps” they keep talking about 🤪

(I. E. Reforming the Senate into a PR rather than land based body), and enshrining more rights. This is perhaps due to an overly aspirational belief in the role of law, but it is where I'm genuinely at. But this is all to say, I just don't know what to do with this anxiety and fear

In policy terms, I push for laws that protect the vulnerable, that empower those who protect the vulnerable with more staff, and that provide more opportunities to those who have had few. On a grander scale, I want constitutional reform that makes government more representative, less territorial

For a more equitable, healthier, and inclusive future. In practical terms, that means in my public work holding those who cause harm accountable and making sure solutions I fight for actually make things better (this is intentionally vague to not get too personal).

But that commitment only goes so far. It is, in many ways, defensive of a position. So I can also articulate what I'd like to see in society and maybe talking about it will help as well. I am a progressive because I believe we owe it to the past, to ourselves, and to our future to always push

I've felt unable to act for a while, in part because I am a public employee 2 years from PSLF. I want to continue serving the public in this capacity, and so I can at a minimum commit to always doing good work from this position and, if I can no longer do good, move on to another job.

I've been in an entirely useless state since Monday morning. My fear and anger is neither getting the things done I need in my personal life nor improving the odds that the future looks brighter in my public life. So I ask this to all here, what do we do (beyond vote) to make things better?

If it helps at all, posts like this and those from others with steps we can take to help avert crisis are extremely welcome for most of us. I'm not a drinking man, but if I were I'd have been drunk since Monday morning. Finding posts with not only hope but plans is more heartening. So thank you!

- Population limits for districts on your commons equivalent. - Multimember districts. - Eliminate partisan identity from all elections* - Enshrining equal rights for all. - Enshrining the right a vote. *My outlandish one is establishing a PR lower chamber for the legislature.
