any business leader who hears this and thinks they’ll manage to survive what’s coming in a second term with their company and their job intact should be fired for gross incompetence

I don't think those leaders understand what the word oppose means here. I doesn't just mean supporting Biden. It means supporting any of Trumps rivals in the primary. It also means retribution is on the table if they have EVER did real estate deal that didn't include him.

Unfortunately, the collective intelligence of business “leaders” tends to fall along the “how can I maximize quarterly revenue and make myself look competent?” Lines regardless of what it does to the proletariat. Until selfishness is weeded out of capitalism Trump’s overtures are probably working

This feels like another flavor of unemployment vs inflation: Lots of folks would rather take their chances with the mercurial strongman and his reactionaries than a generally stronger administrative state.

No, no, see communism is when you provide massive subsidies to private businesses to produce in the United States, capitalism is when you ::check notes:: threaten private businesses for their political opinions.

The thing about a 2nd term that a lot of people don't understand is that the first term was kind of "normal" Republican because Trump needed GWB Republican's credibility. He no longer needs them, next time it's sycophants all the way down. See Project2025. That should scare everyone.

tragically the wealthy rich elite don't care about the threats. they only care about money. they can lose control of their company's properties and have them seized and put under government trustees as seen in Florida and still only think about the short term benefits of a tax cut and tax refund.

I point to his "tariff tax 'plan'": It will allow the 1% to not pay taxes and everyone else is screwed, and if he can do that he's not going to stop at the 1% he's going to go after anyone who doesn't kiss his ass. The Emperor survives, everyone else dies.

how can any business leader live through the first term and think that Trump is at all loyal to anyone, or that when his loyalty is bought it stays bought

How do you say "He's a buffoon, but we can control him - we'll get what we want out of him" in 1930s German?

If we consider that Trump is being Mr. Nice Guy these days because he's running, and he's only going to get worse if he wins...
