The FEC is basically allowing outside groups like super PACs and dark money groups to be de facto extensions of the campaigns they support, allowing them to raise and spend unlimited amounts of money from corporate and individual donors, some of whom give anonymously.

Just a fun reminder that the core of the Supreme Court's reasoning in the Citizens United decision was that the spending the Court was unleashing would be "independent" from the candidates the groups were supporting, but the FEC won't actually enforce any rules that would ensure that's the case
