I think the Socialist Campaign group has around 25-30 MPs? Fair few more probably also fit the bill if it was extended to a more soft left (more online, pro-Palestine, pro-trans, not fully tax the rich till they pop but further than the leadership etc).

I think there's an element where Starmer instructed his core team to ignore social media and that's worked to get into power, but now in they need to understand what's happening on the left *and* how to communicate with them - managing a Labour coalition is probs as hard as running the country tbf.

Definitely. I'd say I'm comfortably off in that I could walk down Oxford Street and buy a new suit off the peg and pay to get it altered if I desperately needed a new suit, but I'm not affluent enough to walk down Saville Row and get one made to measure just because I fancied a new whistle.

I think both groups have a minimum of three months salary in their current account but also have well managed savings in varying degrees. Affluent owns at least one property while comfortably off can't afford to buy in London.

There's a fair bit of data that shows the Labour vote is low when they're expected to win, and no-one thought they'd win in 2019. I think it's pointless comparing Starmer with Corbyn as there were so many factors in play - especially in 2017 - that it's not a like-for-like comparison.

I'd guess the Scotland holidays/postal vote snafu would have had more impact that voter ID. But also the voter ID will be so hard to measure when the press ran their Starmergeddon campaign partly to suppress the Labour vote, which will slightly knack the voter intention stats.

Absolutely this. The BBC in particular need to significantly up their game now that Farage and Tice aren't paid pundits, but the equalivalents of Carla Denyer and Adrian Ramsey as senior figures in parties with 4 MPs. I'm not confident our media is up to the challenge.

Minor thing...but I live in the constituency next door to Fazia Shaheen and she was already hugely popular and ran a campaign focused on the local issues she's championed for years. The folks lumping her in with single-issue pro-Gaza candidates are doing her a massive disservice.
