honestly hate that every time there's an industry bad actor, lists of "works by marginalized authors to support instead" start circulating like it's a moral obligation to be done out of guilt, & it's crickets every other day of the year. my art is not to be taken in as a reactionary measure

I think it works best -- based on what I see in my area -- when it's a balance of staff and community. It avoids staff burnout and invites the community to take a certain amount of ownership of their library.

Re: the Jim Lee thing. My opinion is that creatives can charge whatever they goddamn want for a commission or autograph or a sketch. That is 100% their prerogative. Just as it’s 100% your prerogative not to buy it. That’s basically it.

Biden is too old. But he has surrounded himself with competent people and has had a conventional first term. Trump is authoritarian but inept. He has surrounded himself with people he hopes will make him more effective at authoritarianism. Neither is ideal. But these are not similar problems.
