For Disability Pride Month, one thing I'd love abled bodied people to figure out is how to speak to someone with chronic health issues without implying that if they themselves had the disabled person's health conditions, they would end it all. I promise you life goes on- even with health issues.

If you're an indie author of sci-fi, fantasy, or horror, you might want to be part of the Narratess Indie Sale. Tessa has been organizing two sales per year, and it's been lovely.

A new guardian dog has arrived, fetched from Montana, but he's just a pup, lying there as a raccoon climbs the cherry right behind him. I'm doing my best to guard my kitty. That's the farm update.

No surprise that predators have been picking off the chickens in greater and greater numbers. Now there are maybe a half dozen chickens roosting WAY UP in the trees at night. And the raccoons are strolling right through the farm even in daylight.

Absolutely constant rooster calls is hard on the nervous system, but you can also imagine them echoing through the mountains, shouting, "Come eat me!" into the extensive wilderness.

This is partly because the massive quantity of chickens have forsaken the mite-ridden hen house. Besides the mites, there have also been WAY TOO MANY roosters, which means they won't all go inside together. Therefore, dozens of chickens have been roosting in the evergreens.

So, Bersi, the primary guardian dog on the farm (good boy in photo!) passed away some months ago. Two guard dogs and a herd dog remain, and yet, the raccoons have been taking over.

I've also determined beyond all doubts that I'm thoroughly disgusted with the quality of Atticus. I might be switching everything to Vellum.

Last year I put a HEPA filter on a box fan, but the sound and vibrations triggered my nervous system, making me even sicker. It terrified my cat, too. This system is much quieter with no vibrations.

I woke up to smoke today, so I'm feeling less than stellar, but I'm thankful I have my new air filter set-up. Problematically, I can't close the windows or the CO2 will skyrocket, but the air quality isn't as dire as it could be. I'm not sure what I should be doing when the heavy smoke comes.

But the WRITING of Domestication is done, so when I was out today, I stopped at my favorite Korean bakery and picked up a single piece of strawberry cloud cake to celebrate. I haven't had cake in years! I'm looking forward to it!

I'm still messing around with proofs of Domestication. I got the first one and...no. No, no, no. So I made a bunch of changes and ordered a second one.

A conversation on our Discord has prompted me to say again: remember, y'all, what really sells books is not the author talking about their work, but *readers* talking about it. Word of mouth drives far more sales than advertising or any other engine. So if you loved a book, tell your friends!

i want to raise this issue especially with translators given our field is especially susceptible to dealing with publishers/organizations acting as if our job can be done by AI or machine translation, even though that's such a misunderstanding of what translators do.

Translators are really on the front lines for AI abuse as so many people fundamentally misunderstand the concept of language translation, which is very much a multifaceted art.

How did the idea of Domestication appear?
"...so many things, including physical disability, domestic violence, labor violations, animal flesh disgust, fairy tales, rural living..."

Missha makes several sunblocks. I don't see why they would be just for face. I see one called p:rem that's advertised for full body, but I don't know the brand.

Seriously academics get genuinely excited about this, it is often the best email they will get all month. I once had a professor send me not just the paper I requested but six more that he'd written that related to the topic he was so happy someone outside academia wanted to read his work
