To be fair, the way internet websites and services have evolved, I might just cancel my ISP because a library is more reliable and faster to find anything.

Looking at the thing about emails being too much and thinking "If you give social media to a Millennium era internet user they would immidiately collapse from experiencing more information than they would in a lifetime"

I would prefer the older ways. I really would prefer to go backwards and remove this shitty thing called the “internet” it causes me loss. Loss of privacy, loss of financial security, loss of my piece of mind. Those are big things I want back again.

Looks at publication title. Colour me surprised that the outlet that was pro-Hitler would also gleefully cheerlead for the death of a fast, open exchange of information. Google the words Daily Mail, Exclusive and Correct, and stand aghast at the pinnacle of their journalism.

oddly, if it went away today, I'd be happier, I have thought so much lately about the 'before times', and how nice it would be not to have things like 'social media', smartphones, and so much of the impedimenta that drains the freshness and joy out of actual life

I actually have sung "Our Love Is Here To Stay" with the lyrics, "The radio, and the telephone, and the Internet that we know, May all be passing fancies, and in time they'll go -- -- but, oh! My dear! Our love is here to stay!" (The original (?) line is "the movies"!)

They weren’t wrong. In 2000 the internet was kind of awful. The capabilities, the user experience, the hardware and software people were using, and the trust/security of your average online service were all terrible. Only hardcore geeks could use it effectively and not get confused or hacked.
