Of course it’s an issue. Not on the merits, but the optics. Who does the next debate? Who gets campaign donations? Who mobilizes voters in the interim? Who coordinates? Can’t you see how fractured the process would be to replace him? The level of dirty politics before you even get to the general?

Having a better VP would help, I think. Naming Harris the Attorney General would also be a solid plan.

Harris has had negative press the whole time. I don’t think she’ll be a big boost. If you’re going to make trades, you trade Harris for Whitmer NOW, and make moves to put Harris on the path to being on the Supreme Court.

And she’ll lose, easily. This isn’t about the quality of the candidate. It’s about the realities of the electorate and the process. Keep throwing better candidates at me. I’ll agree they’re better. And I’ll keep pointing out that they’ll lose. We have the choices we have.

The US isn’t other countries. Republicans are, right now, prepping lawsuits for if he drops out. Lawsuits that would go to the Supreme Court. How do you think that’d go? That’s before you get to the actual voters. There are BETTER CANDIDATES than Joe Biden. There are zero FEASIBLE CANDIDATES now.

Your non-magical articulate person is guaranteed to lose. If you think they can win, you’re living in a fantasy world. So you would very much need a candidate from this magical land to stand a chance. The only way for Dems to win without Biden would be him dropping dead instead of dropping out.

If you don’t fathom the concept of time, I can’t help you. Should they have replaced him? Sure. Before primaries. But that’s not what happened. As I said, there’s no magic candidate waiting in the wings who has the remotest chance to win. It’s too late. We have the choices we’re gonna have. Choose.

Joe Biden is a moderately bad representative of an executive team that’s accomplished a fair bit, and has both fought (and, separately, enabled) genocide. Joe Biden is also the only person who could beat Trump. There is no other horse. There is no magical savior in the wings.He is the ONLY horse.
