I, somewhat embarrassingly, have read through all three of the books in the series and it does actually make some level of sense inside the universe it's written in. But it shouldn't take 3 books to get to that point. It was released at the height of the "vampires are cool" phase and you can tell!

My uncle died on Friday. He was a working class Yorkshire man who cared for all and had a wicked sense of humour. Worked at lots of things, but really shone when making rollers for cricket and tennis. I'll always remember his jokes and chatting engineering with him as I grew up. RIP Uncle Eric

Very sad to hear of the passing of Matthew Perry. He was the 'Friend' who I most identified with; witty, clever, sarcastic, really bad with women. His ongoing illness of addiction was something I've been blessed not to struggle with. My thoughts are with his family and friends
