Hello social medias...

You may not be aware a major Cat 5 hurricane struck an area that normally doesn't get them. The eye passed directly over Carriacou and Petit Martinique.

The devastation is tremendous. The need is great.

You can help and make a difference:

Man it appears there are a lot of people pushing on this Neil Gaiman story, but not a lot of corroboration or new reporting, and not a lot from the usual channels.

this rhetoric is need to be made so these people go back to remembering what to say out loud and what to keep quiet about. Of course this action would lead to escalation.

I'm getting real close to taking these people up on the offer, because I agree. I just disagree on whom needs killing and whom needs to do the killing. They're saying the silent part out loud because they believe no one will bring the fight to them, so they're "safe." A few examples of how unsafe

I doubt the US will have an awakening like the UK of, “Jesus, this has all gone to shit and the conservatives have been in charge for 14 years and directed it all this way.” All the things she hates about the “how to retire in healthcare” video. In Ohio the Dems had the House in 2009-2010 (small

Just had my first, “Well they’re all bad!” (Dems and GOP) person was complaining about copays for Medicaid in Ohio. I said, “You can thank the Republicans down in Columbus for that.” Immediate, “No,” response. “Yeah, they’re in charge.” And then we got the “Well they’re all bad.”

But it annoys the fuck out of me. So I don’t write my stories that way. Maybe I’m thinking about this because I’m at a scene where my protagonist needs to decide that fate for someone else. Maybe it’s the current politics dredging up these emotions.

A final determination that this person deserves death. It’s easier in fiction. There is a biological imperative that needs to be overcome in real life. Psychopaths don’t have that hurdle. So the quip let’s us still identify some humanity and morals in the protagonist.

Especially when you’re holding knife to their throat or a gun to their head. No matter what has happened before, they will need to convince themselves that this is the only course of action. This is why the smart ass quip works so well. It’s both a discounting of the life in front of you, and

One stone cold killer walks up behind the other and puts a bullet through the later’s head. Sure, the Bond quips are fun, but this (IMHO) is closer to reality and follows WC Field’s advice, “Never give a sucker an even break.” For most normal people, the thought of killing someone is a hard choice.

bullet through his head. This is in contrast to how the chief Dog of MI5 is treated to a manly punch down contest. Now both bad guys get what they deserve, but (especially in my own writing) I tend to prefer Lamb’s killing of baddie. No quips, no “let’s end this like men,” no final words.

But here’s the thing, Jackson Lamb is a stone cold killer. And in this scene they’re hunting rogue MI5 agents in a house. Lamb, without conscience, uses an agent as bait to lure distract one of the major baddies, and as this baddie is about to kill the bait, Lamb walks up behind him and puts a

So there’s this scene in the 3rd season of Slow Horses in the last episode (I think). If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend the series. Jackson Lamb is played brilliantly by Gary Oldman, and he appears to be a slovenly drunk past his prime and set out to pasture to rot away and be forgotten.

You know, once I see the actual fiber optic cable in the ground. Because that'll probably take at least a year. And without any evidence, I'm guessing the recent "rural broadband" government initiative (and more importantly, grant money) is behind this.

grants to cover the majority of costs. And they never even considered it. And the line is crap. Our cable TV is not digital (too much noise) and can not handle riding the internet on top (too much noise again). I hate to say this, but I may actually go back to their internet service.

Our local teleco sent a letter with the latest bill saying they're going to be digging up the buried cable lines (craptastic, even when they were installed 30 years ago) and replace them with fiber. Biden can be ruthless when it comes to legislation and "finding a way" to enact changes he is personally concerned about (see student debt). But ruthless when it comes to "cutting a bitch," no, he's not. I believe the only plan to counter this is "win in November," which, IMHO, isn't enough.

Putin has already threatened to use nuclear weapons. The only historically effective response to that isn't, "Please be reasonable" it's "You know what that'll mean. You want to burn the world? Let's burn the world." And then put your hand on "the button" daring the other person to make a move.

You'll get no argument here. But the thing is this, Trump is not going to do to jail over his sexual perversions and his child rape. He can't be embarrassed, and some significant portion of his supporters endorse him because of this (and other things).

It's been their plan and he's projecting. Basically, this is him shouting at the left, "stay down" as he draws his side arm. Why? Because conservatives at his level know they are in the minority and if the "left" decided to be just as ruthless as they, Roberts and his ilk wouldn't stand a chance.

Just at the most basic level it is really unhealthy to have to thought about Donald Trump as much as everyone in America has over the last nine or so years. Spending a decade of my life thinking about a super boring, super shitty crook and all the bad stuff he's doing or might do. It's embarrassing.

I’ve had that conversation with X-ray students, “But what if I do it wrong?” My response is someone will correct you, and if nobody is there that can correct you, the person is already dead. You can’t kill then again.
