I just downloaded the one by @tadethompson.bsky.social and learned from him that the authors are not providing their stories "on spec" they are getting paid.

From my limited reading of John Wyndham, I think he's underrated. I recently read his novella, "Consider Her Ways," which I found way ahead of its time for 1956.

My practice novel was Agent to the Stars, which became my second published novel. It was not significantly revised after I wrote it. I did not anticipate publishing it (outside of my website, where I put it up for people to look at) but @subpress.bsky.social made an unsolicited offer and I said yes.
