Since no one else mentioning it, I'll pipe in here to champion the Disney-produced PISTOL miniseries that Lydon tried to suppress via legal action. It starts a bit ponderous & feeling made-for-modern-TV despite all the talent on board, but it does get good, then better. Directed by Danny Boyle.[1/2]
Sid Vicious became a household name with The Sex Pistols but only played on one track on their only studio album (and his bass track was even dubbed over afterwards so you can barely even hear his contribution).
And the clothes they were formed to sell were ripped off from the cheaply repaired clothing that Tom Verlaine and Richard Hell were wearing when Malcolm McLaren saw Television performing at CBGB in NYC.
