I don't want to be the killjoy who bitches about fireworks. I really don't. But my neighbor's dogs are currently drugged to keep them from having heart attacks, my poor cat is hiding inside the sofa, and every time a bang shakes the house, my anxiety spikes. Currently self medicating with alcohol.

BTW, it is National Indigenous Peoples Day. We, as a society, need to work harder to improve conditions on the reservations and traditional lands. We need to find the missing and murdered girls, women, and two spirit individuals. We need to find and repatriate the victims of residential schools.

I took almost 3 dozen hi res professional headshots for my younger brother this weekend (different poses, backgrounds, etc) and today he sent me his top choice, which he has edited to include the 80s school picture laser background. ...so that's how my week is going.

Update: costumer still thinks they "can make that jacket work." Also, they have found exactly zero pants, shirts, or shoes for me to even try on. I've been told to "find pants and a shirt" for myself. This is a period piece. I'm a plus size human. Where. Where do I find these.

It is, on my body, unusable. The character is dynamic and moves a lot. Talks with their hands. Has some fight/stunt physicality. Costumer insists on this unusable jacket. Is "going to look for fabric" to "make it fit". There is literally no way this ends well for me.

Today's fun is the *much too small* suit jacket my current costume has their heart set on. By *much too small* I mean: if I move an inch, it will split seams, it's so tight across back/shoulders I can't breathe, the sleeves were easily 4" too short, it doesn't cover my arse, & buttons don't reach.

As a "big & tall" sized human, costuming is the bane of my existence. Most costumers have no idea how to deal with a body like mine. I can count on one hand the number of times a costumer has been affirming and positive in their interactions with me. And I've got almost 3 decades in the business.
