webtoons recently went public (which i'm sure is not at all related to how underwater they are), so of course they are investing in some nice buzz pieces to generate investor interest. This highlighted line is for those people: investors. Webtoons has never been a business for artists.

In my experience (comics), the harder I tried to purposefully remove the “cringe” from my book, the blander, more vague, and less interesting it got. I had to add a lot of the stuff I thought was “cringe” back in. Don’t be afraid of your work evoking emotions in your readers! Own it!

Yeah that's an improvement! And their arc to becoming friends was nice too! I hope we get more of Smoker and crew, and their hunt for the Strawhats, since we don't see them much until Alabasta, and then not much until the time skip 😂
