AI is effectively ‘useless’—and it’s created a ‘fake it till you make it’ bubble that could end in disaster, veteran market watcher warns

Also like, correct me if I'm wrong, but every scene he has a cig, nobody else has one. Is he the only smoker in the whole film?

Like seriously dude every scene where he isn't running he's taking a drag or finishing a butt, sometimes several! Like ik they're "fake cigarettes" but burnt material is still burnt material.

I say this because this is something _I_ used to do, and you're mirroring it perfectly. Take a step back, take a deep breath. It's not that dire, the dichotomy doesn't exist, TC is saying what's on the tin and there's no "between the lines" here. Ideological purity leads to some bad shit.

You're really bringing that Twitter ideology to bsky in full aren't you. Nowhere did he act "holier than thou". You seem to be taking things in a dichotomous manner and are focused on ideological purity. Do you, perhaps, have misdirected anger that you're applying here? Maybe an adverse childhood?

Yeah, exactly what I said. You're assuming a lot about TC here, and kind of taking a black/white, absolutist position here. You're misreading his content and I think it's a you issue since I and others have no issues with his point.

My two cents: that original comment was pretty fuckin condescending. It assumes a lot about TC while suggesting he's not as smart as the original commenter.

Pride BEGAN during a time of anti-sodomy laws. The first Pride was a riot against those laws. Pride is celebrated around the world in places where it is much more dangerous to be queer than here. Pride is not dependent on being ALLOWED to be who we are, it’s a promise that we WILL be no matter what

This Originalist™ court has effectively immunized both the president and all federal law enforcement officers from any meaningful accountability.
Because if there are two things the Founders cherished, it's the power of a king-like executive and armed agents of the government to act with impunity.

and even if someone thinks "well I don't like/look at porn so why should it be a priority for me?" it's important to remember that when christofascists say "porn" they also mean age-appropriate comprehensive sex education, media with queer/trans people in it, and picture books about gay penguins.

Lemme set the scene real quick: (you had it all-) so I see this post and go "that looks like the dude from Babylon 5 who also played Paul Atreides".
Turns out: no, those two aren't the same people, at ALL. One is fucking ENSIGN CHEKOV and the other is the twin peaks detective dude.

Oh, then yeah if there was no money in the creative arts GenAI for the sole purpose of art would be SUPER RARE and way different. (Think "guy who makes life-likes with a typewriter" or "woman who paints erotica with her tongue/mouth")
Yeah I probably should have gathered. I get pedantic sometimes.

Yes, but it would be for important shit (none of which uses Generative AI) like AI assisted cancer identification, protein folding, AGI research, and automation of menial repetitive tasks.
GenAI is some of the BIGGEST bullshit out there.

This is probably part of why everyone on bluesky is 38 years old: 38 year olds are basically the only people who consider it totally normal to flee a sinking ship and then just casually resume the conversation on the tropical island they end up on.
They've outlived dozens of ships.

A new report shows that the IDF knew Hamas' plan on October 7th. And did nothing.
Did they underestimate Palestinian resistance, or did Netanyahu think this would benefit him?
Either way, the world sees how Israel doesn't care about their own civilians.

Getting this error corrected starts by having to _go to court and contest the ticket_ which most people do not have the time nor money (or legal wherewithal) to do. Which kills the emergence/discovery portion of bug hunting. And most municipalities are fine with this.

The error-correction feedback loop is kind of a lengthy and complicated one. I've had friends get red-light tickets for perfectly legal right hand turns at a red light.

The phrase "AI" is doing a lot of obfuscation here. There's a lot of good ANI (artificial narrow intelligence) can do in the sciences especially when using the right algorithms for the job.
Though I guess techbros will see "AI" and assume generative LLMs are super duper smart.
