FYI friends, if you see a FB account with my name and picture, I assure you it is NOT me. I nuked my FB account after the Cambridge Analytica scandal and I never looked back. I have a few doppelgangers now on that cursed site. Not sure what their game is. But they ain't me.

We make jokes about how dystopia is a lot more boring in reality than all the books we had to read in high school made it out to be. I think what we're forgetting is that the part we're in now - where the characters might have stopped it & didn't - is the backstory of these books, not the story.

I bet audiobook narrators love it when fantasy authors describe their weird nonhuman magical characters as talking in a voice like broken glass or tearing metal or a thousand ringing bells or whatever

Gotta love how we prop up Romeo & Juliet as a love story when Romeo starts the play pining for Rosaline, Juliet's cousin, but then whines she won't put out and then he immediately love bombs the FAR YOUNGER and thus more vulnerable and fuckable 13 year old Juliet. Shakespeare did that on purpose.

It's increasingly clear that the people who make generative AI don't like films, don't like books, don't like art of any kind, and don't understand why anyone else does.

I got word that a female peregrine falcon has been getting into combat with a male that isn't her mate. The father she was nesting with is dead but I don't know if this rogue male killed them or not. Either way I got this shot after sunset tonight. πŸͺΆ

Assigned Fact Check: A right-wing Canadian site claimed the Canadian Cancer Society apologized for using the "cervix" instead of "front hole." The word cervix is found on 314 pages of the society's website. Front hole appears once, on an info page for trans people, and not as part of any apology.

God: When the humans are alone, they should be able to hear music in their heads sometimes. Angel: That's a lovely idea. God: And it should be a 8 second loop of a song they don't really like and can't exactly remember the lyrics to. Angel: ... God: There's no way to make it stop.

whenever I think about how a movie's financial success has been reduced to essentially it's first weekend in theaters, I am reminded there used to be a thriving economy based on months-long schedules, rentals, VHS and DVD sales, regional theaters, syndication on TBS, and international release dates

There is a machine that requires it to drink Lake Michigan to tell you to put bleach in an apple pie and cough up a smeary picture of a big titty anime girl with too many teeth, and then there is a book. Clearly the book is the existential and environmental threat and must be eliminated.

This is not a feel-good story. This reflects a horrid political choice to allow school lunch debt to continue to exist. Children shouldn’t have to rely on the potential generosity of others in order to not go hungry.
